 “The mission of the Respect Life Committee is to promote the appreciation and respect of the dignity and sacredness of human life. The Committee is dedicated to prayers, education and action on behalf of life.

SPIRITUAL ADOPTION

Everyday for nine months, pray the prayer below to save the life of a beautiful child who’s mother is considering aborting her child.

Each one of those praying, spiritually adopts their child.  A name is given to the child by the adoptive parent.

“Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you.”  (Jeremiah 1:5)

Many unborn babies will be saved by praying this prayer.  Please unite with us in prayer and spiritually adopt a baby today!

Jesus, Mary and Joseph, I love you very much.
I beg you to spare the life of the preborn child that I have spiritually
adopted who is in danger of an abortion.

*Spiritual Adoption*

 Month 1

Thank you for praying for me. I am now one month old. I have a heart pumping my blood and a backbone. I am very, very tiny and I appreciate your prayers.

Month 2

Keep praying for me! I am two months old now and about 2 inches long. Look! You can see my eyes, nose and mouth. I will use them to experience God’s world after I am born.

Month 3

Hi! I’m three months old now. I’m about 3 inches long and I weigh one ounce. That’s not much, but I’m fully formed and can even suck my thumb! Keep praying for me.

Month 4

Thank you for praying for me. I’m bigger and stronger now. I’m 6 inches long and I weigh 4 ounces. When mommy goes to the doctor, she can even listen to my heart beat. I hope that one day I will run and play with friends like you.

Month 5

I am 5 months old now. I’m 12 inches long and I weigh about one pound. I’m really getting big and mommy can now feel me kick and move around! Hey! Someday maybe I’ll play soccer! Keep praying for me.

Month 6

I’m 6 months old now. I just opened my eyes – Before today they were sealed shut for protection. I wonder what you look like. I can hear sounds, too! It’s great to have someone praying for me. .

Month 7

Thank you for praying for me. I am 7 months old now. I am growing every day. I’m between 14 and 17 inches long and weigh about 4 1/2 pounds. I move around a lot but it’s getting crowded in here! Sometimes I even get hiccups.

Month 8

Thank you for praying for me. I am 8 months old now. I’ve got long fingernails and I am busy getting ready for my birthday!! I can’t wait to see my Mom and Dad. Thanks to you and your prayers, I’ll see them soon!

IT’S MY BIRTHDAY!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL OF YOUR PRAYERS!!

OLD AGE IS A TIME OF GRACE

“Old age, in particular, is a time of grace, in which the Lord will renew His call. He calls us to preserve and transmit the faith, calls us to pray, especially to intercede, calls us to be close to those who may be in need. The future of a people necessarily supposes this encounter. The young give the strength which enable a people to move forward, while the elderly consolidate this strength by their memory and their traditional wisdom.”

The Virgin Mary shows us the way; the way to visit, to serve and to learn from the elderly person when she visited Elizabeth. Treasuring and preserving life’s wisdom, traditions and faith requires that we protect our elderly from isolation, abandonment and/or an unnatural death. Time with the elderly is precious.

40 DAYS FOR LIFE

40 Days for Life is a pro-life campaign helping to end the injustice of abortion through prayer and fasting, community outreach and peaceful vigils. Campaigns are held in the Spring and in the Fall each year. Members of St. Francis Xavier Parish will be praying during these 40 days (see prayer below).

Please take a moment and pray this prayer with us:

Lord, we cry out for Your mercy and ask You to remove the scourge of abortion from our land. Use us as Your vessels, Lord, to bring the light of Your Truth to our nation once again.

Lord, during these 40 days, we ask that with each day of this sacred vigil, everything in us that separates us from Your perfect will would be pruned from our hearts and souls. In this blessed freedom may we experience a powerful anointing of your Holy Spirit. Filled with confidence and trust may we proclaim with the Mother of Jesus, “Let it be done to me, according to Your Word.”

We ask this through Christ, Our Lord.

Amen.

**Also, as a parish, we will form a group to pray in front of the Syracuse Planned Parenthood clinic.

The Respect for Life Committee encourages and invites anyone interested to come out and pray in front of the clinic.  We encourage prayer warriors to come out with at least one other person.   The clinic is closed on Sundays so there will not be any activity within the clinic itself. However, surrounding this facility with constant prayer will help to save lives. You never know who is driving by considering abortion instead of life. Our mere presence speaks volumes to the world. We hope and pray for an end to abortion in our lifetime!

That the Syracuse Planned Parenthood opened in July, 1970 – before Roe v Wade was
passed in 1973?

That the Syracuse Planned Parenthood was the FIRST free standing abortion facility in
all of the United States?

This is truly the work of the Holy Spirit alive in our world. Won’t you please come and
join us at 1120 E Genesee in Syracuse to offer your prayers for LIFE so that we may be
the next facility to close? Since this is the first / the oldest facility, it would speak
volumes to the world if we could close it down.
