“BACKPACKS FOR HOPE”
Jr. High students delivering filled backpacks
and serving dinner at the Rescue Mission.

Grade 7-8 Jr. High

Classes are on Mondays, 5:30-6:30 pm.

They begin  Monday, September 25, 2017 through April 2018.

Classes are at the Religious Ed Center, 53 North St., Marcellus NY

Arrival:  Parents driving their children are asked to drop your child off at the rear of the Center.

Dismissal:  At 6:30 pm – student either walking home or parent pickup.

SOCIAL JUSTICE:

Food Pantry:  The young men and women collect canned goods for the Durgee Food Pantry, twice a year – Thanksgiving and Easter.

Backpacks for Hope:  This is a semester 1 opportunity for the students to actively participate in  helping the homeless by providing  & filling backpacks with simple necessary items.  More information coming in the Fall.

Faith In Action:   Semester 2 we encourage and provide opportunities for our young people to actually put their faith into action.  We ask that they sign up to participate in community events and activities – more information coming in January.

Various Service Activities: 

Grades 1-6:  “Mittens for Jesus” – immediately after Thanksgiving we invite the students to bring in new mittens or gloves to decorate a special Christmas tree.  They are then donated to various agencies that minister to families in need.
